Nikon Announces the Nikon D610 DSLR

Nikon_D610_1008264

If it looks a lot like the Nikon D600, it's because it basically is the Nikon D600, with a few changes. You can preorder the D610 today for the great price of $1,996.

Of the changes, the only really notable one is a new shutter mechanism that allows 6FPS (up from 5.5) with a new quiet shutter that should hopefully compete better with the silent 5D3. This new shutter mechanism (though Nikon isn't saying this) will hopefully fix one of the bigest issues I have ever seen in a modern DSLR. The Nikon D600 has a habit of allowing dust and oil to creep into the sensor from the shutter mechanism at an alarming rate. While Nikon has not officially said there is an issue with the D600, they managed to release the D600 in record time with the only major change being the new shutter mechanism. The good/bad is that prices of the Nikon D600 are dropping rapidly making it a great buy if you don't mind risking the dust/oil.

Nikon has also slightly modified the auto WB leading to a better representation. We had observed the differences in WB in our previous tests.
