Fuji has just announced the new XT-2 with a host of new features in what looks like an amazing upgrade to an already great camera. For starters, we now have a sensor upgrade boasting 24MP (up from 16MP) using a new APS-C X-Trans CMOS III sensor. In addition to the resolution bump, the new sensor should offer better low light performance and overall IQ. We still have fast shooting at 8fps with an additional bump to 14fps using the electronic shutter. Even the AF system gets a big upgrade with 325 points using both phase and contrast detection (similar to the Sony A6300) with phase detection points covering an even larger area of the frame. 

In typical fashion, the body is fully weather proof, holds dual SD card slots now compatible with UHS-II, and an electronic shutter permits shutter speeds of up to 1/32,000 sec so throw away those ND filters. 

Bundled with the XT-2 is an 18-55mm F2.8-4 OIS lens (FINALLY!!! A bundled lens faster than f5.6!) and an optional vertical power booster grip not only allows extra controls while holding an additional battery, it also allows both batteries to function simultaneously resulting in faster shooting speeds of up to 11fps with full autofocus and longer video recording times of up to 30 minutes. Videographers can rejoice as well as the grip additionally features a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio monitoring. 
Speaking of videographers, the XT-2 offers 4k video record at 100Mbps with a small 1.17 crop of the sensor using a full sensor readout of the resulting 14MP frame to create the final 4k video. Internal recording is limited unfortunately to 100 minutes without the additional battery grip. The camera features a mic input in addition to the option battery headphone jack to complete the setup and even offers F-Log Gamma for a flat picture profile. HDMI output is also supported with 8-bit 4:2:2.

Obviously this is a serious update and the Fuji XT-2 looks like an awesome camera. Availability is currently set for Mid August with a starting price of $1,599 or $1,899 with the lens.
