Nikon D3300 Announced

Nikon_D3300Nikon has announced the new Nikon D3300 which brings the same sensor and lack of an AA filter we last saw with the D5300 to Nikon's entry DSLR. The new EXPEED 4 processor now allows up to 12,800 native shooting although I don't expect much improvement to the RAW files in low light performance.

Other improvements bring the frame rate up to 5fps with some new options in the menus but essentially this is a minor update over the D3200. I expect to see some increased sharpness from the new 24mp sensor and lack of AA filter alone with better processing of noise reduction for JPEG files. Unfortunately there is no Wifi or other features keeping the D5300 in place for those additional features. Additionally there is a new kit 18-55mm lens with the D3300 that is a bit smaller and lighter.

Expect the new kit to show up in February for an asking price of $649. Preorder options are available now.
